The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Games Services and Workforce team as Transport Manager (Venue & Bus Integration) — a pivotal role within the Operations Division.
As Transport Manager, you’ll lead the planning, delivery, and management of venue transport operations and integrated bus services — ensuring the smooth movement of athletes, technical officials, dignitaries, media, volunteers, and workforce across all competition and non-competition venues. From operational planning and access management to live service coordination and Games-time readiness, you’ll play a major part in making sure every journey runs safely, efficiently, and on time.
Working closely with the wider Transport team, delivery partners, and external suppliers, you’ll ensure transport services to venue are safe, available, and fit for purpose — while carefully managing the interfaces between venues, traffic management, and centrally run bus operations. You’ll take a leading role in building and executing Venue Transport Operations Plans, ensuring they are operationally viable and aligned with infrastructure, security, and workforce requirements.
This is a senior, hands-on operational role with significant influence and high visibility — the chance to shape one of the most critical service areas of Glasgow 2026. You’ll be the primary point of contact for your venues, coordinating internal functions, local stakeholders, and suppliers to ensure implementation meets the Games’ standards, policies, and safety protocols.
This is your opportunity to work at the heart of a world-class event, collaborating with passionate specialists and operational leaders to deliver an exceptional experience for everyone powering the Games.
Job Summary:
As Transport Manager (Venue & Bus Integration), you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and efficient transport operation at venues across the Games. This includes developing detailed Venue Transport Plans, managing bus operations integration, coordinating infrastructure and access requirements, and ensuring readiness for Games-time operations. You’ll support planning for the Transport Command Centre, lead risk and incident responses for your area, and ensure compliance with operational procedures throughout the Games lifecycle.
You’ll oversee venue transport services from planning through to delivery — including traffic management planning, safety and security alignment, space allocation, signage and technology requirements, and supplier oversight. You’ll ensure bus arrival, dwell, loading, and departure operations are safe and controlled, supported by appropriate infrastructure and accredited access management.
Collaboration will be essential — you’ll work closely with Security, Accreditation, Venue Management, Overlay, and Logistics teams to align all transport operational components. You’ll also lead venue readiness activities including tabletop exercises, simulations, and in-venue testing, and contribute to demobilisation and post-Games reporting.
This is a highly dynamic operational role requiring excellent prioritisation, calm leadership, and proactive problem-solving in a fast-paced environment. Every decision you make will help keep Glasgow 2026 moving.
Key Skills and Experience:
We’re looking for someone with strong, demonstrable experience in managing operational transport services at scale, ideally within major events, logistics, public services or similarly complex environments. You’ll bring solid supplier management capability — from procurement and contract oversight through to operational performance and compliance — ensuring that delivery partners meet agreed standards throughout the Games lifecycle.
You will have a strong understanding of bus and vehicle operations, including driver management, scheduling, safety protocols, and the use of operational planning or real-time reporting systems such as AVL. Confident leadership is essential — you’ll be experienced in guiding teams, allocating resources effectively, and maintaining calm decision-making under pressure, particularly during live operational delivery.
Exceptional organisational and stakeholder engagement skills are key in this role. You’ll be comfortable influencing across multiple internal and external partners — including Security, Venue Operations, Accreditation and Logistics — ensuring policies, processes and access procedures are aligned and clearly communicated. You’ll also be highly detail-focused, proactive in identifying risks and operational challenges, and adept at prioritising in a fast-moving environment.
Experience in the delivery of transport operations for a major multi-sport event, public transport authority or bus operations provider would be highly valuable, as would knowledge of Games-time client groups and accessible transport considerations. Familiarity with UK transport legislation, EV infrastructure, or working in a Transport Command or Control Centre environment would be beneficial.
A valid UK driving licence is preferred, and you must be willing and able to work flexibly — including extended hours, evenings and weekends — during the Games period to ensure seamless operational delivery.
