The Role  

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Public Engagement team as Business Readiness Manager. 

As Business Readiness Manager, you’ll lead Glasgow 2026’s engagement with the business community across Glasgow and Scotland, ensuring they are informed, prepared, and inspired to play an active role in delivering a successful Commonwealth Games. You’ll collaborate with business networks, the private sector, strategic partners, and small independent operators to support the Games to have a positive economic and social impact.  

This is a dynamic, outward-facing role that combines strategic partnership-building with hands-on delivery. You’ll help businesses understand how they can align with the Games, capitalise on visitor opportunities, and showcase the very best of Glasgow’s hospitality, retail, and cultural life.  

You’ll play a key role in creating a welcoming and vibrant city for athletes, spectators, and visitors, and in convening business leaders and influential private sector stakeholders to communicate the benefits of the Games to the local economy of Glasgow and in the wider showcasing of Scotland.  

Job Summary:  

As Business Readiness Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of a comprehensive business engagement and readiness plan. Working with networks such as Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, representative bodies, and trade associations, you’ll ensure that businesses across key sectors are ready to make the most of the Games.  

The Business Readiness Manager will lead the Organising Company’s engagement with the business community across Glasgow and Scotland to ensure they are informed, prepared, and inspired to support the Commonwealth Games next summer. The successful candidate will collaborate with business networks, the private sector, strategic partners, and small independent operators to support the Games to have a positive economic and social impact.   

In this role you will mobilise the businesses around our venues and within the city centre to inspire their involvement in the Games and mitigate operational disruption. You will enhance and support the visitor economy, by working with businesses to create experiences and itineraries that showcase Glasgow to a global audience and excite spectators. At the same time as convening business leaders and influential private sector stakeholders to communicate the benefits of the Games to the local economy of Glasgow and in the wider showcasing of Scotland.   

Key Skills and Experience:   

You’ll bring proven experience in business engagement, stakeholder management, or partnership development, ideally within the events, tourism, or hospitality sectors. You’ll have a solid understanding of the needs and operations of small enterprises and large organisations, particularly those operating in city-centre environments.  

An excellent communicator and confident public speaker, you’ll be comfortable engaging senior stakeholders, delivering presentations, and representing the Games at business forums and events. You’ll be adept at building trust, nurturing relationships, and navigating complex networks.  

Strong organisational and project management skills are essential, as is the ability to deliver results to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You’ll thrive on collaboration and bring enthusiasm, creativity, and composure to your work.  

A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion underpins everything you do. Experience working on major events, alongside knowledge of Glasgow or Scotland’s business landscape, would be advantageous.

Salary: Starting salary is from £60,000. Salary offered will be based on demonstrated skills and experience related to this role.
