The Glasgow 2026 Festival will bring the city to life from 23 May to 9 August, transforming Glasgow into a vibrant celebration of sport, culture and community in the lead‑up to, and during, this summer’s Commonwealth Games. Across all corners of the city, hundreds of community‑led events, performances and activities will showcase Glasgow’s creativity, energy and spirit.
Launched last year as a £250,000 grant programme, the Glasgow 2026 Festival Fund received an overwhelming response, with more than 400 applications submitted from community groups, artists, cultural organisations and sports clubs across the city.
Thanks to additional support from Glasgow 2026, Commonwealth Sport, the Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council and sportscotland, the fund has now been significantly expanded to £1.25 million!
This investment is enabling over 160 projects to receive grants of up to £10,000, supporting activity in all 23 of Glasgow’s wards. The result is a city‑wide programme of community‑led events, performances, sports participation and cultural activities, designed to celebrate Glasgow’s creativity and communities.
Each funded project aligns with at least one of the festival’s core themes:
-
Gathering – bringing people together, strengthening connections and creating shared experiences.
-
Social Justice – championing inclusion, equity and opportunities for all communities.
-
Celebration – showcasing the talent, culture and creativity that make Glasgow unique.
Together, these projects aim to increase participation in sport, arts and culture while creating a positive and lasting impact for communities across the city.
