Emily is the most decorated British weightlifter in modern history. She made headlines at Tokyo 2020 by becoming the first British woman to win an Olympic weightlifting medal, claiming silver. She followed this with a bronze at Paris 2024, cementing her place among the sport’s elite.

Her Commonwealth Games journey has been equally groundbreaking. After winning bronze for Team England at the 2018 Gold Coast Games, Emily returned in 2022 to dominate the +87kg category in Birmingham, taking gold with a record-breaking performance. That victory completed a rare sweep of medals across all four major competitions, Olympics, World Championships, European Championships, and Commonwealth Games. All within a single year.

Off the platform, Emily is a passionate advocate for body positivity and inclusivity in sport. Her strength, charisma and commitment to empowering others have made her a role model for a new generation of athletes.

Speaking about her appointment as a Glasgow 2026 Ambassador, Emily said: "It means the world, for me to be part of the Commonwealth Games has always been very special to me and obviously to then be asked to be one of the main parts of it I couldn't really so no and I'm really thankful!

"We just need to keep pushing these Games, get as many people as possible to come and watch as possible. It's going to be such a high standard and the Games are going to be fantastic and I think Glasgow is going to be absolutely buzzing next year so yeah, I'm just going to keep telling everyone about it."

Emily’s appointment marks another milestone in the journey to Glasgow 2026, as the city prepares to welcome athletes, fans, and communities from across the Commonwealth.
