Eilish McColgan is Scotland’s reigning Commonwealth Games 10,000m champion and one of the country’s most accomplished distance runners.

Her Commonwealth journey began at the Youth Games in 2008 and continued with a steeplechase debut at Glasgow 2014. She went on to reach finals in the 1,500m and 5,000m at Gold Coast 2018, establishing herself as a consistent contender at the highest level.

Eilish achieved her greatest Commonwealth success at Birmingham 2022, winning gold in the 10,000m and silver in the 5,000m. Her silver medal marked Team Scotland’s 500th Commonwealth Games medal, and she was later selected as flag bearer for the Closing Ceremony in recognition of her achievements.

Beyond competition, she is recognised for her strong sporting legacy and family connection to the Commonwealth Games, and for inspiring young athletes through her commitment and professionalism.

As an Official Ambassador for Glasgow 2026, Eilish brings her experience on the world sporting stage to the Games. As Ambassador, she continues to engage with communities and helps inspire participation in sport across Scotland and the wider Commonwealth.
