Sammi Kinghorn OBE is Britain’s fastest-ever female wheelchair racer and one of Scotland’s most successful Para athletes.

She began wheelchair racing in 2012 and quickly established herself as one of the sport’s leading talents. Within two years, she was selected for Team Scotland and made her Commonwealth Games debut at Glasgow 2014. She finished fifth in the T54 1500m, improved to fourth at Gold Coast 2018, and secured a bronze medal at Birmingham 2022 following a closely contested final.

At international level, Sammi is a multiple World and European champion. She won a bronze medal in the T53 100m at Tokyo 2020 before achieving major success at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, where she claimed gold in the T53 100m and four silver medals across sprint, middle-distance and relay events.

Beyond competition, Sammi is recognised for her commitment to promoting disability sport and inspiring young people to engage in physical activity. She is widely regarded as a role model for aspiring Para athletes across Scotland and the UK.

As an Official Ambassador for Glasgow 2026, Sammi is keen to play her part in this year’s Games. With the largest Para Sport programme in Commonwealth Games history, she wants to inspire the next generation of Para athletes, widening participation in Para sport across Scotland and the wider Commonwealth.

I’m over the moon to be joining the Glasgow 2026 team as an official ambassador. Sport can truly change lives, and I can’t wait to see the positive impact the Games will have across the city of Glasgow and beyond.
