At Cuningar Loop in Glasgow’s East End, Movement for Health officially launched its new campaign ‘Together We Move’. Supported by Scotland’s Summer of Sport and Glasgow 2026’s All In initiative, the campaign champions inclusive movement across Scotland, with a particular focus on those living with long-term health conditions, as well as children and families.

The launch brought together community and health leaders, political and government representatives, academics, athletes and people living with long-term conditions to celebrate movement in all its forms. It celebrated all of Scotland’s ‘movers and shakers’, movements big, small and everything in between. In support of this message, the group included Professor Sir Gregor Smith Scotland's Chief Medical Officer, Louisa Mahon Chief Marketing Officer at Glasgow 2026 and Team Scotland Para Bowls gold medallist, Pauline Wilson.

And gathering at Cuningar Loop was especially significant. As a lasting legacy from the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, the site has evolved into a vibrant community space supporting everyday physical activity. Glasgow 2026 will host the largest ever Para sport programme in Commonwealth Games history and aims to build on this legacy of active, healthy lifestyles across the city and beyond as the Games return to the city this summer.

Louisa Mahon, Chief Marketing Officer Glasgow 2026, said:

“Inclusivity and accessibility are at the heart of Glasgow 2026. These Games are designed to put people first, ensuring that everyone feels welcome and able to take part in their own way. It’s been brilliant to see that same commitment reflected in Movement for Health’s focus on inclusive movement.

“Glasgow 2026 is clear in its ambition to realise the lasting benefits that multi-sport events can deliver. Creating this impact requires collaboration and shared responsibility, and Together We Move will play an important role in helping to ensure a meaningful legacy for communities long after the final medal of the Games has been awarded.”

Emma Anderson, Movement for Health Programme Manager, Physical Activity for Health Research Centre said:

“The Together We Move campaign recognises that all movement matters. Whether it’s a short walk, a gentle stretch, or dancing in your kitchen, it’s about celebrating what people can do. That’s how we create a more active, inclusive Scotland – by making space for every kind of movement.

Many of us are limited by our health conditions which makes the recommended physical activity guidelines often unachievable. Yet, what we can do matters, is valuable, has purpose and should be recognised and celebrated. If we don’t start celebrating minor movement, our society will not see the shift we need to become a moving nation.

Our coalition members and partners see every day how movement transforms lives. Together We Move is the chance to showcase just that – highlighting the joy, connection, and confidence that come when people are supported to move in ways that feel right for them. We’re grateful to everyone who joined the launch to celebrate and hope that, together, we can continue to champion inclusive movement across Scotland.”

Professor Sir Gregor Smith, Chief Medical Officer for Scotland, said:

“I am pleased to see the launch of this campaign which aims to raise public awareness of the many ways in which we can all be more active and gain the physical and mental health benefits that brings. While participation in sport or structured exercise can be a great way to get active, it isn't the only way and Movement for Health rightly champion the importance of all forms of movement.

“This inclusive approach reflects the needs of diverse communities, including people living with long term health conditions and disabilities, and focusses on the importance of supporting programmes and initiatives that centre around individuals and their circumstances.

“Together We Move is a perfect example of this and I am confident that communities across Scotland will see themselves reflected in its messages. I hope the campaign inspires us all to move more, and celebrate that all movement counts.”
