May absolutely flew by – just like a magical unicorn! It was another month packed full of adventures, new friends and plenty of Glasgow 2026 magic, so let me tell you all about it...

Finnie - Bowls & Athletics

This past month, I've really felt like an athlete in training. I've tried my hand (and hoof!) at bowls, netball, athletics and basketball. Whoa – I'm puffed just thinking about it!

I absolutely love all of the Glasgow 2026 sports, but I think I might need a little more practice before I'm ready to compete with the professionals. Still, every champion starts somewhere, right?

One place my sparkly skills definitely do shine, however, is on the dancefloor. And what better place to put them to the test than the Glasgow 2026 Opening Ceremony auditions?

Finnie - Opening Ceremony

I was absolutely honoured to help attendees warm up and spend the day being a professional cheerleader. The energy in the room was simply magical! I'm very glad I didn't have to make any final decisions, though, because, if it were up to me, I would have picked everyone!

May was also full of incredible days out and, if you know this unicorn at all, you'll know how much I LOVE a day out. Sunshine, activities, meeting new friends... what's not to love?

Finnie - Gourock & DM

I found myself back in Gourock for the second time this year, this time for their annual Highland Games event. The pipe band and Highland dancers had me feeling extra proud and excited for a summer of celebrating Scotland and welcoming the Commonwealth to our wonderful nation.

For me, the highlight had to be seeing all of the young people taking part in the mini games. There was so much talent, determination and sportsmanship on show. I think I might even have met a few future Commonwealth Games champions...

Speaking of future champions, I was back at our amazing Games venue, Scotstoun Stadium, for the Glasgow 2026 Daily Mile event. Hundreds of children from 20 different schools across Glasgow came along to take part in activities – including, of course, their Daily Mile!

It was so cool to see so many young people running on the very same track that elite athletes will compete on this summer. That's the kind of experience that will become a cherished memory, and I have a feeling they'll be talking about that day for years to come.

Ideagen

I also trotted through to the capital in May, where I was delighted to visit the Ideagen office and meet their wonderful team. As the Official AI Technology Partner of the Games (very fancy), they do some pretty impressive things!

It was fascinating to learn more about their work and get a behind-the-scenes look at how their technology helps friends all around the world. Thank you so much for having me, Ideagen!

And, as always, the month was also full to the brim with school visits. It is such a privilege to share the Games magic with children across Glasgow and make lots of new friends along the way. My Christmas card list really is getting out of control…

Wow... what a month. And just like that, we're onto the next one.

The Games are now so close. Everywhere I go, people are counting down the days, and it's making this unicorn's heart sparkle just a little bit brighter.

Next time I write in this diary, Games month will be here. Until then, I will keep spreading the magic everywhere I go!
