After going close to the podium at Birmingham 2022, Scotland will be aiming to turn strong performances into medals on home soil this summer.

Leading the women’s wheelchair team is world and European medallist and Glasgow 2026 Athlete Ambassador Robyn Love. The experienced Paralympian is joined by fellow Paris 2024 athlete Jodie Waite, alongside Lea Smith and Kayli English, who helped Great Britain win silver at the 2025 European Championships.

After leading the squad to 4th place in Birmingham, Love will combine her role on court with responsibilities in the coaching set-up during the Games, bringing a wealth of experience to the squad.

In the running competition, Kyle Jimenez and Fraser Malcolm have been selected for a third Commonwealth Games after representing Team Scotland at both Birmingham 2022 and the Gold Coast 2018 Games, where 5v5 basketball featured on the programme. They are joined by Cheshire Phoenix captain Skyler White and Bristol Flyers captain Owen McCormack, the reigning Super League Basketball Most Improved Player of the Year.

Speaking to Team Scotland after his selection, Jimenez said:

“This will be my third Games, but we are all super excited that we are going to be on home soil with our friends and family there. My favourite thing is putting on my Scotland jersey and hearing the anthem before the game, so maybe winning a medal with friends and family there would be top level.”

The women’s running squad includes Claire Paxton and Hannah Robb, who return after competing at Birmingham 2022 and have continued to play key roles within the Great Britain 3x3 programme. They are joined by Commonwealth Games debutants Kirsty Brown and Ella Doherty, who both developed through the United States collegiate system before returning to compete closer to home.

Speaking to Team Scotland, Paxton said:

“3×3 has grown massively since the last Games so I think the competition is going to be harder. We want to represent ourselves well and enjoy the experience. The freedom of the game allows you just to go out there, be fearless and play hard. You never know what could happen.”

Scotland will also field a men’s wheelchair team for the first time at a Commonwealth Games after narrowly missing qualification four years ago. Finlay Erskine and Shayne Humphries both bring recent international experience, with Erskine competing at the inaugural IWBF 3x3 Open World Championships and Humphries winning silver at the 2025 World University Games. They are joined by Commonwealth Games debutant Ross McConnell and Tyler Baines, who switches allegiance after claiming bronze with England at Birmingham 2022.

Speaking to Team Scotland, Erskine said:

“It’s the highest level that we can play wheelchair Basketball for Scotland so this is really the top of the top for us. It’s a really big step in my career and it’s going to be amazing.”

At Birmingham 2022, Scotland’s men’s running team and women’s wheelchair team both finished fourth, narrowly missing out on bronze, while the women’s running side placed fifth. With four teams competing in Glasgow, Team Scotland will be hoping to secure its first Commonwealth Games medal in 3x3 basketball.
