Medal hopefuls clash early as 3x3 Basketball and 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball draw and full match schedule revealed
Taking place at The SEC Centre from 24 July to 29 July 2026, 3x3 Basketball and 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball will be one of Glasgow 2026's most electric sports. Built for noise, with urban-roots and festival-like atmosphere, 3x3 is the half court version of Basketball, using a 12 second shot clock and games lasting 10 minutes or earlier if a team reaches 21 points.
Played in front of a roaring crowd and a full-on party atmosphere, the action gets underway on Friday 24 July with expanded fields – 12 nations compete per gender in the running game and eight each in the wheelchair event - reflecting the rapid global growth and appeal of the sport.
The action will unfold across 13 sessions, with the schedule throwing up intriguing clashes throughout and there’s sure to be a fireworks finale on the court on Wednesday 29 July, the final medals day.
It was Canada who came out on top four years ago winning two of the four gold medals - with victory in the women’s 3x3 Basketball and women’s 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball events - as the sport made its debut at Birmingham 2022.
England are looking to defend their gold in the men’s running game - led again by Jamell Anderson - while Australia’s men won wheelchair gold.
“It's the buzz, it's the noise, it's the fast-pace,” said Anderson. “It's 10 minutes of just pure exhilaration, only one winner and our goal is gold.”
Three dominant nations, Canada, England and Australia made a clean sweep of the 12 medals, sharing four each, four years ago. The Glasgow 2026 edition is a competition that has been labelled “unmissable”.
In the men’s running game, Scotland start in session one against Guyana and face Australia in session three at 19.00 on 24 July. England’s schedule includes highly-rated Singapore, Kenya and Malaysia in action packed sessions which have up to ten games to cheer.
In the women’s running game there’s a cross-border clash between England and Scotland women in session five.
In two rematches of the 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball gold medal games four years ago, Australia and Canada men’s and women’s teams play in session nine.
Scotland feature in all four events. Scotland's three-time Paralympian Robyn Love, a Glasgow 2026 ambassador said: “Scottish fans get behind their teams, but we also love an underdog and the Commonwealth Games is full of them.”
With home court advantage, Team Scotland’s Kyle Jimenez and Fraser Malcolm feature in their third Games, whilst Claire Paxton and Hannah Robb their second.
Natalie Cunningham, Director of Sport, Glasgow 2026 said: “3x3 Basketball and 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball is an unmissable event at the Games. The speed, intensity and entertainment value has fans, young and old, captivated from the first pass. New nations are making their debut and experienced teams back for another medal shot, with Scotland, as host, in the thick of the battle.”
Ann-Louise Morgan, Director of Sport at Commonwealth Sport said: “We are delighted for the return of 3x3 Basketball and 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball at Glasgow 2026 following its successful debut at Birmingham 2022. We are confident that 3x3 Basketball and 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball will engage spectators and recreate the electric atmosphere we saw four years ago.”
Alex Sanchez, Managing Director of FIBA 3x3: "The full schedule confirmed for Glasgow 2026 underlines the continued growth and global reach of 3x3 basketball, bringing together a diverse field of nations from every region. We can't wait to see the action unfold at The SEC Centre this July."
IWBF President Ulf Mehrens said: "With just weeks to go until Glasgow 2026, the release of the full match schedule is an exciting moment for teams, athletes and fans. The 3x3 format will bring basketball and wheelchair basketball side by side, giving spectators the chance to experience the speed, intensity and skill of both games in the same arena. With some outstanding matchups already set, we look forward to a fantastic competition and encourage fans to secure their tickets."
Fans are being called on to play their part too, echoing the passion and pride of the Tartan Army at the FIFA World Cup, to support Team Scotland this summer.
The final ticket drop is on sale now for the 3x3 Basketball and 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball. Fans are encouraged not to miss out and get their hands on their tickets today, available at glasgow2026.com/tickets.
