With just a few weeks to go until the first medal of the Games is won, Scotrail have announced they’ll add an extra 1, 452 carriages to services throughout the Games. The extra carriages will provide more seats on routes that serve competition venues, allowing more fans to travel sustainably.

ScotRail will operate additional services calling at Dalmarnock, Exhibition Centre and Scotstounhill, to help spectators, volunteers and those working at the Games, get to the events, with additional evening services running to support those travelling home.

ScotRail will also have extra staff on hand across the network to help people travel safely and with confidence.

ScotRail customers are being encouraged to plan ahead, buy tickets before they board, check their journey before travelling and allow more time, as services will be busier than normal during the Games.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said:

“We’re proud to be supporting the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games and helping people travel to and from what will be a fantastic celebration of sport.

“We’re going All In with more than 1,400 extra carriages being added to trains during the Games, as well as running extra services on key routes, to provide more seats and support customers travelling to venues across the city.

“Customers should plan ahead, buy their tickets before they board, and allow extra time for travel. Our staff will be on hand throughout the Games to help.”
