The Scotland legend rocked the sporting world with a stunning performance at the London Diamond League athletics on Saturday, smashing the 27-year-old world record by half a second.

The performance was one of the greatest ever by a British athlete, and Kerr’s next event is the historic Commonwealth Mile at Glasgow 2026.

Olympic silver medallist and former world champion Kerr said immediately after his heroics in London: “I feel great right now, lots of adrenaline in the system and I will be out in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games, for sure.

“Every season has to have a peak, and I hope to continue this for another couple of weeks and ride that momentum.”

Fast times are expected on the newly laid track at EDF Scotstoun Stadium for the Athletics and Para Athletics, in a venue that will bring spectators up close to the speed and power.

Athletics and Para Athletics events will take place over six days at Scotstoun Stadium from Monday 27 July to Saturday 1 August 2026, with tickets on sale for the 12 sessions. There are 43 medal events in Athletics and 16 in Para Athletics.

The Glasgow 2026 Men’s and Women’s Mile Finals are run on Saturday 1 August. Tickets are still available for the heats, on 29 July and 30 July and other days of Athletics and Para Athletics action.

Kerr added: “If I am to leave my mark on this sport I have to do those performances. I put the work in. I am good at circling the day to perform and doing my job.”

Kerr broke the landmark held by Moroccan Hicham El Guerrouj's time of 3mins 43.13 seconds set in 1999.

In Glasgow, Kerr will have fellow Scots Jake Wightman and Neil Gourley alongside him.

Speaking of Britain's history of success in the Mile, Kerr said: “I want to continue to bring the mile back to the UK. We have some great ‘milers’ in the UK. We have Jake Wightman, we have Neil Gourley and incredible people that are putting together incredible things.

“I’m going to be here in the UK for a couple weeks, getting ready for the Commonwealth Games and I’m going to take it day by day, but I want to share that story with as many people as I can because I had performances like that to look up to."

There’ll also be fireworks in the Men’s 100m at Glasgow where London Diamond League winner Kayinsola Ajayi is entered after running 9.84s in London.

Another Glasgow-bound winner in London was Australian High jumper Nicola Olyslagers who leapt 2.01m.

Eilish McColgan, Jemma Reekie, Laura Muir and Paralympic champions Ben Sandilands, Owen Miller and long jumper Steven Stone are among the leading Scots competing.

The final ticket drop is on sale now. Fans are encouraged not to miss out and get their hands on their tickets today, available at glasgow2026.com/tickets.
