Since her Games debut at Delhi 2010, the 38-year-old has claimed two gold medals and as many bronzes, in the meantime giving birth to three children without missing a single edition of the competition.

"Bowlers have to get married in May or September as well, to avoid the bowl season," she said on getting the timing right.

Now, six-year-old Elizabeth, Zachary, 9 and Rupert, 11, will support the Women's Triplets champion from the stands at Glasgow 2026.

"Two of them are playing bowls themselves so that's lovely. I'll be quite emotional to see their little faces," Honnor (pictured above right) said.

"My boys were at Birmingham (for the 2022 Commonwealth Games), watching us win gold, and they were absolutely buzzing. They’re a bit older now so hopefully they’ll get even more from it."

Honnor hopes for another triumph in front of her children.

"Everyone would love to win a medal, that’s why we play sport. But it will be tough," she said.

"We've just got to take every game as it comes, hope we get a little bit of luck along the way and see what happens."

There will be plenty of firsts at Glasgow 2026 for England's Opening Ceremony flagbearer.

"Every Commonwealth Games I've played in has been exceptionally different. Special but for different reasons, and with all kinds of challenges as well," Honnor said.

"This one being indoors for the first time obviously throws some new things in.

"The pace is different on carpet versus on grass, the lanes are different. Indoors, you don’t have as many variables like the weather or how the greens are."

Another difference is that the Triples discipline, in which Honnor has won her four consecutive medals, has been removed.

"It's going to be tough in terms of competition, but I'm really looking forward to it," Honnor said.

"They've done an amazing job in there (at the SEC Centre), so it'll be a spectacle."
