The boxing roster at Glasgow 2026 is crammed with international talent, and Ndevelo is among that number. Now he is keen to take the next step.

The highly rated Featherweight’s first name is apt as he takes a third tilt at the Commonwealth Games title.

“I believe I am going to win,” the 27-year-old (pictured above, in blue) said. “My main skill is I am unpredictable. I can fight southpaw or orthodox, I can switch and confuse my opponent.

“After the Gold Coast (2018 Games) and Birmingham (2022), I now have the experience to get the gold. The Commonwealth Games, for me, is the second biggest prize in the world.  

“My mother named me Tryagain to encourage me. In school, in sport, if you don’t do good, you always have another chance. Try again until you get that score. That’s my plan here.

“But I have big respect for the Scottish and English fighters. They’re very strong.”

White and Okoh lead England charge 

Ndevelo is right to be wary. Scotland are a powerhouse in Commonwealth Games boxing: at Birmingham 2022 the Scots claimed three gold medals for the first time at a single Games, and they’ve won at least one medal at every event since 1930.

But it’s England that has secured the most Commonwealth Games boxing medals – and the team are strongly positioned to do well in Glasgow. 

Ruby White, aged 19, leads the way. A four-time European champion and seven-time national champion, in 2024 she became 48kg world champion at the U19 boxing championships.

She is unbeaten in more than 60 amateur bouts. 

“I’m so overwhelmed,” White said of competing at Glasgow 2026. “I’m so happy to go and show how good I am at an elite, high-performing level. I'm an exciting fighter. I don't bring boring fights.

“I've gone through a lot of battles physically, mentally, within boxing, without boxing, but I've always made sure boxing was my main priority.

“I'm getting the chance to perform and progress up the levels.”

White's ultimate goal is clear.

“Nicola Adams (ENG) was my weight and won the Olympics twice,” she said.

“She's a massive inspiration for me. I've got the speed and I've got the power.”

Also catching the eye for England is former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua’s sparring partner, Isaac Okoh, who won the 90kg title at the 2025 World Boxing Cup Finals, and like White, could not be more pumped. 

“I’ve been buzzing,” Okoh said. “I feel like most amateur boxers in the UK - the Commonwealth Games and the Olympic Games are two of the biggest tournaments you can compete in.

“It's an amazing opportunity, to say you've competed there and hopefully bring home a medal.”

Boxing is a family affair for Okoh.

“My dad (Chris Okoh) used to be a boxer. He won the Commonwealth title, so he knows what it's like to get in there.

“I'm full of confidence. I'm big, tall, southpaw, tricky, very quick counter boxer.”

Boxing at Glasgow 2026 is fought over three rounds of three minutes. Ten points are available each round and the boxer with the highest score takes the match – unless a knockout blow is delivered. 

Athletes are split into weight categories, from Bantamweight to Super Heavyweight for men and Flyweight to Middleweight for women.
