1. First-ever Women’s 1500m Freestyle Swimming event
The first-ever Commonwealth medals in Women's 1500m Freestyle will be awarded – a new addition to the Games programme.
Australia’s Lani Pallister is the overwhelming favourite to take home the gold, having also won Australia's first gold of the Games in the 400m Freestyle on Friday – one of six golds for the dominant Dolphins on Day 1 in the pool.
2. Will Cameron McEvoy secure his first individual gold?
It’s a big day for Australia at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre as Cameron McEvoy returns to the scene of his first Commonwealth Games success back at Glasgow 2014, when he took home six medals including two relay gold.
Now the 32-year-old aims to score his first individual Commonwealth title, in the 50m Freestyle, the discipline in which he is the reigning Olympic champion.
3. Best Individual All-Around gymnasts revealed
The Individual All-Around champions in Artistic Gymnastics will be crowned. In the Women's category, Australia’s Georgia Godwin seeks to make a full-circle comeback following an injury that meant she missed Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
In the Men's category, Canada's Felix Dolci tops the qualification ahead of seven-time Commonwealth medallist Marios Georgiou from Cyprus and local favourite Reuben Ward.
4. The wait is over for Weightlifting fans
Weightlifting begins as India’s Mirabai Chanu and Malaysian teammates Mohamad Aniq Bin Kasdan and Muhamad Aznil Bin Bidin seek to take home gold in their respective categories.
Aniq Bin Kasdan has gone up a weight category since Birmingham 2022 but will be hoping for a repeat of his 55kg gold-medal performance from four years ago.
5. England v Australia's heated Netball rivalry
England and Australia's Netball teams have one of the biggest rivalries at the Games, following England's final-second score at Gold Coast 2018 that meant the Aussies had to settle for silver.
They redeemed themselves in 2022 to top the podium in Birmingham, a result they'll be hoping to repeat in Glasgow. Their first match-up of these Games is not to be missed.
