Favourites to the fore on first day of Netball

Australia, New Zealand and England have won every Netball Commonwealth title between them and all three made a winning start to Glasgow 2026 with convincing victories against Games debutants Tonga, Northern Ireland and Scotland, respectively. Uganda edged out Wales 59-50 in the closest match of the day.

Dolphins continue to dominate in the pool

Australia ruled the pool for the second day in a row taking the first podium clean sweep of Glasgow 2026 in the Men's 400m Freestyle. Four further golds at Tollcross put Australia clear at the top of the overall medal table.

McDonald plays a blinder on the bars

A score of 14.200 on the uneven bars from Kate McDonald helped take Australia's Women to the top of the Team podium in the Artistic Gymnastics, 1.100 ahead of Canada in silver. England edged out Wales to take bronze.

Basketball blues for hosts

Mele and Leslia Finau put the work in for their win against Fiji today

Tonga's shock win against Scotland in the Women's 3x3 Basketball was a family affair, with sisters Mele and Leslia Finau in the team for the Pacific Island nation. "She has been my role model for the past 20-something years," younger sibling Mele said. "It has been great having her by my side and representing our country together. Sibling love can be a bit of tough love at times, but it definitely helps on the court." See Mele Finau's interview here.

Prasad's breathtaking bowls win

Rajnesh Prasad of Fiji electrified the morning Bowls session with a nail-biting last-bowl tie-break victory over home favourite Jason Banks. Roared on by a large group of Fijian supporters – including their government delegation – Prasad made it three wins out of three in Men’s Singles but isn’t getting carried away. “You just have to breathe in, breathe out and deliver. I’m taking it one game at a time – it’s a long, long tournament.”
