Bin Kasdan Mohamad Aniq sets three records in Men's 60kg Weightlifting
On the third day of the Commonwealth Games, Bin Kasdan Mohamad Aniq setting three Games Records in the Men's 60kg category
Malaysian weightlifter Bin Kasdan Mohamad Aniq took home the gold in the Men's 60kg Weightlifting category on July 26, 2026.
Mohamad Aniq held off strong challenges from India’s Rishikanta Singh Chanambam, who claimed silver, and Kenya’s Joshua Amunga Mboya who took bronze – Kenya’s first Weightlifting Commonwealth Games medal since Victoria 1994.
The Malaysian took control when he lifted 145kg on his first clean and jerk attempt. He then set a Games record when he lifted 149kg on his second attempt and extended the mark further with 152kg on his final attempt.
He broke out a dance and then grooved his way off stage and into his coaches’ waiting arms.
In doing so, he established two Games Records in the categories: Total (273kg) and Clean & Jerk (152kg).
In a subsequent event Aniq set an identical record with Rishikanta Singh Chanambam when both successfully lifted 121kg in the snatch giving them an identical Commonwealth Record.
This hasn't been his best performance yet however, Mohamad Aniq set the Commonwealth record of 285kg in Total and 160kg in Clean & Jerk at the Southeast Asian Games in Chonburi, Thailand back in December of 2025.
It'll be the Malaysian's record to beat at Ahmedabad 2030.
