The 24-year-old took gold on Vault and bronze on Parallel Bars on Tuesday to add to his Team gold and All-Around silver, before closing out the action with a stunning Horizontal Bar routine to claim the final title at the Glasgow International Arena.

Dolci’s success helped Canada top the Artistic Gymnastics medal table with 16 in total, including seven golds – the perfect excuse for some celebratory treats.

"Hell yeah! Definitely a couple of beers, some great food and maybe a little dessert, why not?” Dolci (pictured left, with William Emard) said.

"I definitely want to call my coach back home, let him know I'm safe and sound, and hear what he has to say about the competition and any corrections. I'll call my mum and my family back home too. It's been a minute."

Dolci cheered team-mate and long-time friend William Emard to a hard-earned bronze on the Horizontal Bars after the final took a dramatic turn when Emard fell from the bar after his hand guards broke. He was allowed a second chance to complete his routine.

"This is actually the first pair of grips I've ever broken in 22 years, so you can say it was a pretty specific moment for it to happen,” Emard said, adding that vocal support from Dolci helped him focus.

"There are probably only two people I really hear during a routine: my mum and Felix. They've both been there since I was four years old. I'm really sensitive to sounds when I'm competing, so I could definitely hear him.

"I think he understood exactly what it felt like to break a grip, reset and go again, so he knew I needed that extra boost. It really did feel like home, and going home with that bronze medal feels like gold today."

Home nations success 'special'

In the Women’s competition, the home nations swept the podium on the Floor, as Wales' Ruby Evans won her first Commonwealth gold to add to her world championship silver on the apparatus.

“I wanted to win something for my country, whether it was gold, silver or bronze," Evans said. "I definitely knew I wanted something. If I didn't, people would forgive you, so there wasn't any pressure, but I just knew I wanted to do that.”

England's Abigail Martin and Shantae-Eve Amankwaah took silver and bronze, respectively. The podium trio usually train together as part of the Great Britain squad.  

"It makes it so special," Martin said. "It was really special at the worlds for me and Ruby to be on the podium together, but now to be at the Commonwealth Games and have Shantae on the podium with us – England and Wales – it proves how hard we all work at the GB squads. Maybe it just shows that GB is the Floor country.”

Cyprus’s Marios Georgiou earned double silver on Men's Parallel Bars and Horizontal Bar to become a nine-time Commonwealth medallist.

Just like Dolci, Georgiou is ready for some treats. "Come on, we deserve it. We do gymnastics so we can't eat burgers and drink beers, because every other day we're training hard, eating well and doing everything properly.

"So for me, it’s a burger with eggs, bacon, caramelised onions, chips and a cola zero."
