Uganda set up 3x3 semi against New Zealand

Uganda’s Women’s 3x3 Basketball team defeated Tonga 21-12 to progress to Wednesday’s semi-final, where they’ll face New Zealand for a chance to make the gold-medal game. The Kiwis are unbeaten in the competition so far, but Uganda’s Jamila Nansikombi (pictured) is ready for the fight. “It's absolutely huge,” she said. “It's the semi-finals, but we still have to keep fighting. The fight is not over, and I know they're going to come out fighting as well, so we just have to keep the same energy up until the tournament is done.”

Canada’s Dolci wins his sixth medal of Games

Felix Dolci claimed three medals on the final day of the Artistic Gymnastics competition - gold in Men’s Vault and Men's Horizontal Bar, and bronze in Men’s Parallel Bars. That takes the Canadian’s tally to six for the Games, including four golds. If Dolci was a Commonwealth nation, he would at the time of writing be eighth on the medal table. The final event of the Women’s competition was won by Wales' Ruby Evans who took Floor Exercise gold, ahead of England teammates Abigail Martin and Shantae-Eve Amankwaah.

Three consecutive Weightlifting golds for Charron

Canadian Weightlifter Maude Charron successfully defended her back-to-back titles from Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 with a dominant performance at the SEC Armadillo that included Games records in the snatch (102kg) and clean and jerk (130kg) to win the Women's 63kg. England’s Sarah Davies Smale took silver while 17-year-old Femily-Crystie Notte nabbed the bronze. Notte, from the tiny Pacific nation of Nauru, 11 hours ahead of Scotland, said her father watched her compete from home. "He said, 'I was saving my eyeballs for you. I did sleep early and I woke up in the evening to watch you'." 

Racing in the rain on Day 2 of Athletics

Over at the EDF Scotstoun Stadium, Cameroon's Emmanuel Eseme was unbothered by the torrential rain as he took the Men's 100m final in a Games record time of 9.83 seconds, with Australia's Lachlan Kennedy in second and Kayinsola Ajayi of Nigeria third. In the Women's event, New Zealand's Zoe Hobbs took gold ahead of Amy Hunt (ENG) and Torrie Lewis (AUS). Earlier, Ky Robinson of Australia won the Men's 10,000m and Malaysia's Abdul Latif Romly the Men's Long Jump T20. 

Hosts win first Bowls gold in tie-break thriller

The first Bowls gold of the Games was won by Scotland in the Para Mixed Pairs B2-B3. The game against old rivals England went to a tie-break, before a brilliant final ball from the skip Robert Barr won it for the hosts. Cue party time at the SEC Centre. Afterwards Barr said his game-winning shot was one of the best of his career. “It was such a tough game right to the very end, and we just kept our nerve and managed to get through,” he said.
