Everyone was expecting Greaves to place on the medal podium at Glasgow 2026, but no one quite expected him to smash a Commonwealth Games record.

Glasgow 2026 marks the 43-year-olds 26th year competing on an international level. Beginning his career at the Paralympics during Sydney 2000, and has subsequently earned six consecutive medals at the Paralympic Games.

Back at Glasgow 2014, Greaves took home gold in the Men's Discus Throw F42/44, and finished fourth at Birmingham 2022, just missing the podium. His most recent piece of silverwear comes from the World Championships, where he took home bronze. Despite breaking a record this time around, Greaves finished fourth due to the point weighting system.

Dan Greaves broke the Commonwealth Games Record in Men's F44 Discus Throw with a score of 54.83 metres, breaking the Games Record of 54.76m set by Welshman Harrison Walsh at Birmingham 2022. It's just under 10 metres shorter than the World Record in the F44 Men's Discus Throw, currently held by American David Blair at 64.26m.

Dan Greaves credited his success in the Discus Throw to his old P.E teacher when he spoke to England Athletic's Ready, Set, Glasgow podcast. He also highlighted the need for further integration of Paralympic sports at big championships - following a similar model to the Paralympic and Commonwealth Games.
