The rising star defeated Paralympic and world champion Poppy Maskill to lead an English one-two in the women's 200m freestyle S14. Sheffield achieved a time of 2:06.07 in the event at Tollcross International Swimming Centre on day two of the games. 

The games record was previously held by Bethany Firth also from Team England which was achieved at Birmingham 2022 with a time of 2:07.02. Firth still holds the world record with a time of 2:02.09 set in Glasgow 2016.

Sheffield debuted at the home Manchester 2023 championships earning a bronze medal in the S14 100m backstroke then repeating the feat at Singapore 2025.  She has followed up on her previous medal-winning performances at the last two World Para Swimming Championships by earning the gold in the S14 200m freestyle at her first ever Commonwealth Games.

She also added a gold medal as part of the S14 mixed 4×100 m freestyle relay team.
