Canada's Maude Charron marked her ongoing dominance of the Commonwealth Games on Tuesday with a third consecutive gold medal in Weightlifting, but she remained uncommitted over whether she would return to battle for a fourth in 2030.

“I don’t know about that,” Charron said after topping the podium in the Women's 63kg at the SEC Armadillo.

“I’m enjoying myself right now. I don’t have a lot of Games to come; I need to enjoy them.”

The Canadian lifter, who won Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020 and claimed silver at Paris 2024, held off England’s Sarah Davies Smale to clinch top spot.

Charron, 33, had to watch on as Davies Smale loaded her bar with the 138kg needed to take the lead with her final lift, but it proved too much for the Englishwoman, who claimed silver.

Seventeen-year-old Femily-Crystie Notte collected bronze for Nauru’s second Weightlifting medal of the Games.

“I was telling myself it is just another competition like any other; three snatch and three clean and jerks," Charron said.

"No matter the size of the competition, I have the same job to do.

“I know the pressure, I know how many eyeballs are on me, and I know the outcomes that can happen. I don’t feel that as pressure, but I perform better under pressure.”
