Australia smash Commonwealth Games Record in Men’s Swimming 4 x 100m Medley Relay
Australia capped another landmark evening in the pool by smashing the Commonwealth Games record on their way to gold in the Men’s 4 x 100m Medley Relay at Glasgow 2026.
The men broke the previous Commonwealth Games record of 3:31.04 in the men’s medley relay, dominating the second half of the race to come within seconds of the Australian record in 3:28.71. They still broke a record and took gold with England coming in second at 3:30.68 and South Africa gaining the bronze with a time of 3:31.13.
Australia wrapped up the Swimming and Para Swimming programme on Wednesday with a record medal haul, while South African Chad le Clos became the most successful athlete in Commonwealth Games history.
Australia's swimmers won 37 golds among 76 overall medals across six days of racing at Tollcross International Swimming Centre to surpass the Dolphins’ previous Commonwealth Games best haul, at Gold Coast 2018. In Glasgow, they also recorded six clean sweeps of the podium.
