New Zealand's Liti secured the gold medal in the men’s 110+kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, narrowly defeating India’s Lovepreet Singh by one kilogram.

The previous record is thought to be 215kg but it is not known when it was achieved or by who.

Liti achieved a Commonwealth Games record clean and jerk lift of 223kg, finishing with a total of 389kg after a 166kg snatch. It's his third consecutive Commonwealth Games medal, after gold in 2018 and silver in 2022. 

After the win he said: “I am very happy. This is exactly what we came here for. I am proud to represent New Zealand and take a gold medal home. I wanted to perform well, give my best effort, and put together my strongest performance. I am delighted that it all came together today.”
