Canadian weightlifter Alex Bellemarre won a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, on July 29 competing in the men's 94kg category with a record breaking lift.

Bellemarre set an event record of 159kg in the snatch and lifted 187kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 346, finishing behind Malaysia's Mohamad Syahmi Bin Nor-Ghazali, who won gold with 347.
