New Zealand’s Devon Briggs set a games record time of 1:05.536 in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome on July 31, smashing Fin Graham of Scotland's previous record made on the same day of  1:07.527.

Cambridge Para cyclist Devon Briggs won the gold medal in the men’s C3 1000m time trial in emphatic fashion, returning to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome where he won four medals in the world championships in 2023.

The 22-year-old kiwi produced an outstanding ride to win in 1:05.536 for a new Games record and only 0.3s outside his C1 world record set at the world championships in 2023.

“It was a really good ride, really good kilo and I followed a good process so I am super-happy with that result,” said Briggs.

“After this I am feeling confident about my individual pursuit. The legs felt really good out there today so I will ride the track, listen to the calls from coach and do the best that I can.”
