England's Morgan Newberry smashes Commonwealth Games and World Record in the Women’s Para-Cycling C5 4000m Individual Pursuit.
England’s Morgan Newberry delivered a performance for the ages, smashing both the Commonwealth Games and World records with a breathtaking display of speed, power and determination.
Morgan Newberry fired in a 5:05.764 time to set a new World and Commonwealth Games Record, just six minutes after Nicole Murray had taken it in the Women’s C4-C5 4000m Individual Pursuit.
Newberry finished second in the women’s C4-5 individual pursuit, taking silver behind Australia’s Tara Neyland despite setting a new C5 world record.
The 27-year-old clocked 5:05.764 in the gold final only to be beaten by Australia's Tara Neyland, whose factored C4 time was quicker.
On her first time representing England, Newberry said: "Yeah it has been pretty amazing. It has been a really kind of surreal day today. It is great to represent England here in Glasgow and even better to take home a silver medal."
