More sunshine on the Netball court?

Should they have recovered from playing in – and celebrating – their epic one-point semi-final win, Jamaica will have the opportunity to win their first ever Commonwealth Games Netball gold on Sunday afternoon.

The Sunshine Girls, as they are known, took silver four years ago and having dispatched defending champions Australia amid joyous scenes (pictured), it is New Zealand who stand in their way this time around. For the first time, Australia will feature in the bronze-medal match as they attempt to recover against 2018 champions England.

The Women’s Elimination Race offers the great Georgia Baker one last chance to overhaul Anna Mears, Brad McGee and Matthew Glaetzer and become Australia’s most successful Commonwealth Games cyclist. 

Always a highlight, this Elimination Race is packed full of intrigue. Aside from five-time champion Baker looking to cement her legacy after her near miss in the Women's 25km Points Race, there is Canadian Maggie Coles-Lyster – bronze medallist four years ago – who is out to complete a remarkable recovery from serious surgery 12 months ago, plus Scottish veteran Neah Evans seeking to close out her career with more silverware.

If that’s not enough, look out for New Zealand’s 2024 Elimination Race world champion Ally Maree Wollaston and Welsh hero Anna Morris.

It is the turn of the big beasts in the Judo competition, with the Men’s -100kg and +100kg taking centre stage, alongside the Women’s -78kg and +78kg medal matches. A spectacular series of bouts are guaranteed, with Canada, Jamaica, India, Scotland, Australia and England all boasting medal contenders at the end of a helter-skelter three days in the SEC Centre.
