Glasgow 2026: Stories to Watch on the Final Day
The final 15 gold medals of Glasgow 2026 will be decided on Sunday before the Games conclude with a Closing Ceremony headlined by Simple Minds. Four sports remain in action, with Jamaica chasing a first Commonwealth Netball title, four Para champions to be crowned and medal opportunities for Guernsey and Northern Ireland.
Para sport stays central to the end
Four Para titles will be decided across Track Cycling and Para Bowls, completing the largest Para-sport programme in Commonwealth Games history, with a record 47 medal events.
Scotland’s Fin Graham leads the men’s C1–3 individual pursuit field, which also includes Northern Ireland’s Chris Burns and Malaysia’s Mohamad Yusof Hafizi Shaharuddin, while Kadeena Cox contests the women’s C4–5 1,000m time trial.
Para Bowls will also conclude with Australia facing New Zealand in both the men’s and women’s B6–B8 pairs finals.
Jamaica chase historic Netball gold
Jamaica are one victory from their first Commonwealth Netball title after beating defending champions Australia 46–45 in Saturday’s semi-final.
The Sunshine Girls, silver medallists at Birmingham 2022, will face New Zealand after the Silver Ferns defeated England 61–54.
Merrien carries Guernsey’s hopes
Ali Merrien will face England’s Katherine Rednall in the women’s singles Bowls final.
The five-time World Indoor champion is one of Guernsey’s strongest medal hopes and now has the chance to deliver one of the island’s greatest Commonwealth results.
Northern Ireland’s Gary Kelly and Adam McKeown will also compete for gold against England’s Nick Brett and Jamie Walker in the men’s pairs final.
Finucane targets a fourth gold
Emma Finucane will attempt to complete a four-gold Games when she contests the women’s keirin.
The Welsh rider has already won the team sprint, individual sprint and 1,000m time trial, with her latest title coming on Saturday.
She faces a field including reigning Olympic and Commonwealth champion Ellesse Andrews of New Zealand and England’s Katy Marchant and Sophie Capewell.
Final chances on the track and mat
Isle of Man cyclist Ben Swift is expected to make his final major track appearance in the men’s points race, giving the former scratch-race world champion one last opportunity to win a Commonwealth medal.
Scotland’s Sarah Adlington will attempt to claim a third Judo title, 12 years after winning gold at Glasgow 2014. She became the first judoka to win two Commonwealth titles with her second victory at Birmingham 2022.
Glasgow says goodbye
Glasgow rock legends Simple Minds will headline the Closing Ceremony at The Hydro, alongside Cammy Barnes, BEMZ, Sandi Thom and Elephant Sessions.
Australian singer Delta Goodrem will also return to a Commonwealth Games Closing Ceremony 20 years after performing at Melbourne 2006, before the ceremonial handover to Amdavad, host of the Centenary Games in 2030.
