Athlete Lounge areas will be available in each of the three team hub hotels at the following locations:
- Crowne Plaza (Zone 1)
Ground floor, hotel foyer area, and outside the front of the hotel - Radisson Blu (Zone 2)
First floor, next to the Athletes’ Dining and Games Services Centre - Glasgow Marriott (Zone 3)
Ground floor, hotel foyer area and Waverley Suite
Opening Times
- Zones 1 and 2: Open daily from 07:00 – 22:00 from 20 July
- Zone 3: Open daily from 07:00 – 22:00 from 22 July
Purpose and Atmosphere
The Athlete Lounges provide a warm, welcoming and relaxed environment where athletes can take a break from the demands of training and competition. They offer a safe and friendly space to socialise, unwind, recharge and connect with teammates and fellow athletes from across the Commonwealth.
Accessibility and Inclusion
All Athlete Lounges are fully accessible and designed to be inclusive for all, including Para-sport and neurodivergent athletes.
Facilities include:
- Seating of varying heights and configurations
- Games and activities suitable for a wide range of abilities
- Inclusive options for visually impaired and blind athletes.
These spaces are designed to ensure all athletes can fully enjoy and engage with the environment comfortably and independently.
Activities and Facilities
A variety of sports, games, and interactive activities are available within the main lounge area and outside to encourage fun and meaningful interaction and we also offer a dedicated quieter zone offering:
- Board games and puzzles
- Relaxed seating areas
- Device charging stations
This space is designed for athletes who prefer a calmer environment to rest, recover and recharge.
Live Sports Action
Each Athlete Lounge will feature multiple screens and TVs showing live coverage of the Games, allowing athletes to follow the action across all sports and support fellow competitors.
Entertainment and Activations
Glasgow 2026 has commissioned a programme of entertainment and pop-up activations to enhance the athlete experience while showcasing some of Glasgow's best local independent talent.
Delivered across the athlete hotels, the programme will feature a variety of live performances and interactive activities, giving athletes the opportunity to relax, unwind, socialise with teammates and competitors from across the Commonwealth, and take a break from training and competition.
Opening Ceremony Viewing Experience
Athletes who are unable to attend the Opening Ceremony in person due to training or competition commitments the following day are invited to join a special live screening in the Athlete Lounge. With large screens and comfortable seating, it's the perfect opportunity to experience the excitement of the Ceremony alongside teammates and fellow athletes from across the Commonwealth. The evening will also feature Commonwealth-inspired finger food, music, interactive photo opportunities and caricature artists, creating a fun and memorable way to celebrate this special moment together.
Hosted in the Athlete Lounge areas of the Hub hotels on 23 July from 18:00.
