The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) features the SEC Centre, five interconnected exhibition and meeting spaces, the iconic SEC Armadillo and the most recent addition, The Hydro – a concert, sporting and special events arena.  

With its infinite flexibility, the Campus has gone from strength to strength continuing to position Glasgow on the world stage.  

During the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, the SEC will be home to five sports across the whole Campus.

The Hydro

About the venue 

The Hydro was officially opened on 30 September 2013, with a concert by Rod Stewart. During the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, the Hydro hosted both Netball and Gymnastic events. 

The Hydro arena is located adjacent to the SEC Centre and the SEC Armadillo and hosts international musical stars, global entertainment and sporting events. The arena is the fifth largest in the UK. 

Getting to The Hydro 

Exhibition centre station at the SEC is a four-minute walk from the main concourse across the bridge.  

There are many good walking/ cycling routes to from the City Centre taking 30 minutes to walk.  

The SEC is easily accessible from the Finnieston and Partick areas as well as south of the river utilising the connecting foot bridges.  

This venue has existing blue badge parking spaces in the multi-storey ca rpark.  

The nearest subway stations are Partick which is a 25minute walk and south of the river is Ibrox which is a 20minute walk.

About the venue 

Designed by the world-renowned architectural practice, Foster + Partners, the iconic building is one of Glasgow’s best-loved landmarks. The SEC Armadillo features a stunning auditorium and adjacent breakout spaces.  

In 2014, the SEC Armadillo played host to the Weightlifting competition for the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Opening in 1985, the SEC Centre (previously known as the SECC) offers five interconnected exhibition and meeting rooms with a combined area of over 22,000sqm.
