Scotstoun Stadium will host Athletics and Para Athletics from 27 July to 1 August, with two sessions each day and up to 8,500 spectators at each. The surrounding area will be busier during competition days. The venue will be in use from 7 July to 11 August.

A temporary one-way system will be in place on Danes Drive, along with the Scotstoun Events Permit Zone which will operate in the same way as restrictions used for Glasgow Warriors home matches. Residents and businesses will still be able to access their properties and essential services will continue as normal.

Impact on travel

  • Scotstounhill station will be busy before and after sessions. Residents should allow extra time or consider walking/cycling for short local journeys.
  • Bus stops on Queen Victoria Drive (3), Dumbarton Road (1, 2, 3, 400) and Westland Drive (X4) will experience higher demand.
  • If you’re making a short local journey, consider walking or cycling. Walking and cycling routes remain open but will be heavily used, especially from the West End and city centre.

Affected roads
A temporary eastbound‑only one‑way system will operate on Danes Drive from 22 July to 2 August. This will restrict access from Westland Drive and Victoria Park Drive North. Within the one-way system, the left-hand lane will be reserved for authorised vehicles, while the right-hand lane will be used by local traffic.

Additional restrictions affecting residential streets:

  • No access to/from Danes Drive via Vancouver Road
  • No left turns into Danes Drive from Verona, Dunglass, Ormiston, Duncan, Lennox
  • No right turns into Danes Drive from Danes Avenue, Upland Road, Northland Avenue.
  • ‘No stopping’ restrictions will apply on Danes Drive during this period.

Local access
Residents and businesses can access their properties as normal. Deliveries, waste collection, emergency services and care visits will continue without change.
